Drew Meyer Defense Chopstop Classification Statement

The statement provided below is for general informational purposes only and is not intended to be, nor should it be construed as legal advice. The accuracy, completeness, adequacy, or currency of the information is not guaranteed.

We often receive questions about whether using the Chopstop on pistols is legal and whether it's considered a vertical foregrip or hand stop. Additionally, people frequently ask us whether it's California-compliant. The Chopstop Mod 1, 2, and 3 are designed with an 82-degree angle and are intended to be used as a hand stop for rifles and registered short-barreled rifles. However, there is currently no official federal firearms statute that defines a vertical foregrip. As a result, there is no clear answer to the legal definition of the chopstop because that definition doesn't exist.

It's important to note that we are not lawyers. Therefore, this information should not be interpreted as legal advice. It's your responsibility to know and comply with all federal, state, and local laws and regulations. Drew Meyer Defense LLC is not responsible for the misuse of its products, or if you purchase a product you are not legally allowed to possess in your state or county. We strongly advise that you seek legal advice from a qualified professional if you intend to use any of our products on a pistol.
