The Chopstop product line currently consists of 3 different offerings.

Chopstop Mod 1 - The original "winged" variant that eliminates overhanging edges on the handguard.

Chopstop Mod 2 - Traditional "flat mounting top". Universally compatible with all M-LOK systems including wider non-standard handguards that the Mod 1 is not compatible with.

Chopstop Mod 3 - Specifically adapted for picatinny rail systems.

 

The question we get most is "which is right for me?" The answer is simply, it depends.

If you have a picatinny rail, then the easy answer is to go with the Mod 3. For Mod 1 vs Mod 2, its all about personal preference assuming your current M-LOK handguard is compatible with the Mod 1. Individuals with larger hands tend to prefer the Mod 1 due to its increased surface area. Mounting a Mod 3 to an M-LOK picatinny section has been a popular choice for individuals with even larger hands or for those who just want a little bit more handstop coming off their rails.

The Chopstop Mod 1 follows Magpul's TDP for Type 2 M-LOK accessories. Handguard specifications for compatibility with the Mod 1 are as follows:

  • Max 45° rail extrusion profiles
  • Bottom rail mounting flat of 0.678"/17.22mm or narrower.

It is important to note that anything exceeding these specification will probably require modification to the handstop for proper fitment. Some examples wider non-standard handguards from Noveseke, Hodge, Aero Percision Enhanced Rails, SCAR/AK rails, the SIG M400 and MCX Virtus rails.
